From 28 July to 06 August, our team participated in the international program Think Globally, Act Locally held in Norway. The project was designed to raise awareness on sustainability, cultural exchange, and the importance of active community involvement.
The majority of the program took place outdoors, providing participants with the opportunity to engage closely with nature. A strong emphasis was placed on sustainability practices, particularly recycling, which is highly valued and systematically implemented in Norway. Participants learned how recycling contributes to environmental protection and how these practices can be adapted and applied in local communities.

The program also offered a wide range of practical and recreational activities. During kayaking, participants discovered the beauty of the Norwegian islands and gained new knowledge about the region’s natural environment. The hiking activities presented many barriers and challenges along the way, yet these were successfully overcome through teamwork and mutual support. Evenings were often spent together around the bonfire, creating space for meaningful conversations, reflections, and intercultural exchange. We would like to extend our gratitude to Marion and Mara for their guidance and support throughout the program, as well as to our host, Arnout, who created a welcoming environment for learning and collaboration. Another valuable dimension of the project was the intercultural exchange. Participants came from various countries, enabling them to share their own culture and traditions while also learning from others. This exchange fostered mutual respect, broadened perspectives, and created lasting friendships.

Participant’s Reflections
“As part of the Think Globally, Act Locally program in Norway, I learned to sort garbage, be more attentive to nature, and to truly enjoy the views—even when they became my everyday wake-up scenery for 10 days.”
Ani
“The program was very educational and interesting for me. During the program I learned new things, gained new skills, and made new friends. This was my first program abroad and it will always remain unforgettable for me.”
Zhora
“The project was a great way to connect local actions with global environmental goals. It helped me better understand the impact of retail and outdoor activities on the planet. My favorite part of the project was the late night talks with good people around the bonfire. I never thought I would have a kayaking experience, but I did—and now I’m planning to continue it as a hobby in my hometown. I’ll always be very grateful for the project giving me my first opportunity.”

Overall, the program successfully combined education, cultural diversity, and environmental awareness, making it a valuable step towards the project’s mission: Think Globally, Act Locally.
