Exploring Armenia Through Wine: Czech Interns at the Zatik Festival 2025

What is Zatik wine festival?

The Zatik Wine Festival is a vibrant annual celebration held in Yerevan, Armenia, that marks the arrival of spring and the Easter season. Organized by the Wines of Armenia NGO, this three-day event takes place in Seasons Park, offering a delightful blend of Armenian wine, food, music and cultural activities.

Visitors can explore a diverse selection of local wines, meet winemakers and enjoy culinary delights from top-tier food vendors. The festival also features an Easter market with handcrafted gifts, traditional games, art activities like egg decorating and live performances showcasing Armenian music and dance.

With free entry and a festive atmosphere, the Zatik Wine Festival provides an immersive experience into Armenia’s rich winemaking heritage and cultural traditions, making it a must-visit event for locals and tourists.

Our interns visited the festival on April 19 2025 as part of their intership with the goal of exploring Armenian culture and tasting local wines. Their journey began in Armavir a region renowned for its winemaking and led us all the way to Yerevan for the Zatik Wine Festival. The wines from Armavir naturally caught their attention during the tasting.

The festival featured traditional delicacies like Zhengalov hats (bread) and handmade crafts. It also included perfomance by musical band. Traditional dances were part of the festival. It was great that they tried to involve the visitors too. An essential part of the event was its Easter theme which is deeply connected to Armenian history. Armenia was the first country to adopt Christianity as its official religion.

Everyone could find something to enjoy, even children, who had the opportunity to paint Easter eggs or draw on wine bottle.

Armenians are known for their openness (which was clearly reflected in the dancing). The winemakers were incredibly kind and welcoming. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.

They would love to give a shoutout to Alluria Wines. The winemaker was so kind, friendly and truly appreciated our presence as tourists.
