EL Impacto Experience with Local Youth in Armavir

As a follow-up to the international training course EL Impacto, the Armenian team organized a community meeting at the ADC office with local youth. The aim of this session was to highlight the importance of youth participation and to share the knowledge, skills, and tools gained during the training course in Barcelona.

The EL Impacto training course, held in Spain in May 2025, brought together youth workers and youth leaders from across Europe to explore ways of strengthening youth participation in democratic and community life. The course aimed to empower youth workers with skills in mentoring, community analysis, and active citizenship so they can better support young people in becoming engaged, responsible citizens. Its objectives included:

  • mapping the roles of young people and youth workers in communities,
  • developing analytical and mentoring competences of youth workers,
  • introducing participatory tools and methodologies for youth activism,
  • fostering cooperation and networking among partner organizations, and
  • enriching communities with innovative practices in youth work.

During the follow-up meeting at ADC, the Armenian participants presented these objectives to local young people, explaining why youth participation is crucial for building inclusive and sustainable communities. They emphasized that active involvement of young people in decision-making processes not only contributes to their personal development but also strengthens democracy and civil society as a whole.

The session was highly interactive: local youth were invited to share their views on the challenges they face in participating in community life, and together with the Armenian team they discussed possible solutions. Special attention was given to the role of mentorship and trust-building between youth workers and young people, as well as the importance of social inclusion to ensure that no one is left behind.

By holding this follow-up activity, the Armenian team ensured that the benefits of the EL Impacto training course extended beyond the international participants, reaching local young people in Armenia as well. The meeting served as a bridge between European-level youth cooperation and local realities, empowering Armenian youth to see themselves as active citizens capable of driving change in their own communities.

The EL Impacto training course was hosted by Associació Formació i Sensibilització Barcelona (AFSB) and funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union.
