Breaking Barriers, Building Awareness

The “Breaking Barriers, Building Awareness” project, based on the growing statistics of violence against women and domestic violence in Armenia, addresses this urgent problem.

The main objective of the project is to raise awareness of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence, or as it is widely known, the Istanbul Convention.

The project involves a complex toolkit of awareness, using both digital technologies and more traditional ways of awareness. In particular, the project envisages two awareness seminars targeting the population of Armavir community as well as representatives of local self-government bodies, civil society and media, a social media campaign in the form of information publications on various social platforms, as well as public advertising in Armavir through the distribution of posters and brochures.

The mentioned actions are aimed at eliminating misconceptions about the convention and promoting positive stories, pursuing the long-term goal of overcoming violence against women and domestic violence in Armenia.

The “Breaking Barriers, Building Awareness” project is funded by the Council of Europe.
